Testing Details:
Occupational skin disease is a significant cause of occupational ill health. Your employees may be handling materials that can effect or pass through the skin, which can cause diseases elsewhere in the body.
Employers have a duty to assess the health risks from skin exposure to hazardous substances and an this can be accomplished through skin surveillance testing.
The test involves a firstly completing an skin health questionnaire which records the information about the individuals workplace exposure. After that, they undergo a visual assessment of the skin and then a skin hydration test. The whole process take around 20 – 25 minutes per person.
Duration: 1/2 day or 1 day testing
Location: Testing can be completed at your Company Site
Requirements of Skin Surveillance Testing:
Employees in certain industries, such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare, are at higher risk of developing occupational skin diseases due to exposure to harmful chemicals, irritants, and UV radiation. Regular skin surveillance helps in early detection and prevention, especially working with the following;
- Bitumen or asphalt.
- Degreasers, descalers and detergents.
- Disinfectants.
- Epoxy resins and hardeners.
- Oils and grease.
- Release agents ie mould oils.
- Sealants.
- Solvents used in paint, adhesive or other surface coating.
