How long is my certificate valid for?

Once completing any forklift training each delegate will receive certificate. Certificates do not have legal expiration date, though industry standards and HSE guidelines recommend refresher training every 3 to 5 years, which the forklift accrediting bodies adhere to. When forklift refresher training is booked we would require a copy of the certificate to be sent back with the booking form to secure the training.

If the delegate does not have a certificate or is over 5 years they would need to complete Forklift Experienced training which covers additional areas to ensure the delegates are competent in using the truck.

Training Duration for Forklift Experience training:
2 days for 1 to 2 delegates max
3 days for 2 delegates max

We require onsite training, is this possible?

95% of our forklift training is conducted at your company site. We are based in Wymondham and we travel throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and beyond. We also have customers across the UK and are happy to travel where you are.

If the trainer is booked to complete forklift novice training at your site we recommend that you have a suitable area for turning and a number of loads to lift. This ensures the delegates are able to practice all the requirements outlined in the novice training

Why do l need to have accredited training?

A bit of history – The official forklift training standard came into existence in the UK in 1969. Forklift training has the following accrediting bodies such as AITT, ITSSAR, RTITB etc. and all follow pretty much the same guidance and require similar, if not the same, times for training.

We are accredited by AITT and so have to follow their timings for courses.

Accredited forklift training gives each delegate appropriate time on the truck and clear guidance from an experienced instructor, helping them develop the skills, competence and confidence to operate safely, with safety always the priority.

Unaccredited courses are deemed in-house, and are not recognised by the HSE, and so are not something we would offer.

Safety Tips when using a forklift !
  • Always, Always wear a seat belt when operating a forklift. It is easy to jump on and off a forklift truck, though safety is paramount.
  • Always ensure the lift load does not obstruct your view
  • Always be aware of any pedestrians when operating the forklift
  • When travelling with a load on an incline always have the load facing uphill

(the above was taken from AITT guidance)

According to the British Safety Council  1,300 workers are hospitalised with severe injuries following forklift accidents every year in the UK, which works out to be approximately 5 workers hospitalised every single working day.
